HOW IT ALL BEGAN 

Honest to Goodness was founded in 2002 after many years of consideration. It started with just one person, a simple vision and a passion for sustainable agricultural practices, simple nutritious food and the desire to make these healthy foods affordable to everyone. Today, after years of continuous growth, due mostly to the support of our customers and dedicated staff - this vision is now a reality. Honest to Goodness is now a fully integrated supplier operating as importers, exporters, processors, distributors, wholesalers and retailers of high quality foods and are one of Australia's leading suppliers in this industry. This vision continues to grow and develop and continues to go well beyond the food, it includes the whole food chain, the people, environmental sustainability, community support and more. Our customers are diverse and range from large multinationals to the keen home cook picking up their weekly staples at a local growers market.

Our Speciality and Expertise: We specialise in the supply of organic and natural wholefoods therefore we can ensure quality and consistency within this unique supply chain. We have highly qualified and knowledgably staff with the most up to date market knowledge of the food in our range. We continuously draw on this expertise and knowledge to ensure the best quality and value product is ranged. Purchasing decisions are made with much consideration which is reflected in the range and quality of foods we carry.

Organic Certification: Our warehouse and production facility are organically certified and therefore never fumigated.  We follow strict food handling guidelines and have a quality management system in place to ensure the best possible quality and handling of our products. 

Quality: We pride ourselves on the quality of foods in our range. When you see the Honest to Goodness brand you can be sure you are getting the very best food nature has to offer.

Our product selection: We feature foods in their purest state, simple foods, healthy foods that have had minimal processing and are naturally preserved. Maybe it is what is NOT in the food in our range that makes the difference. You won't find any artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, sweeteners, hydrogenated fats or GMOs. Each product we range is carefully evaluated taking into account ingredients, freshness, taste, appearance, nutritional value and more.

We actively support organic and biodynamic farming practices, the proven method for promoting sustainable agriculture and protecting the environment and the farm workers. We prefer organic, locally grown products where price and quality permit in support of local communities and regional Australia. Although sometimes we have to look a little farther afield to ensure our range consists of quality products priced at levels that provide fair returns to farmers, whilst being affordable for our customers. This also includes foods that are naturally grown in developing nations ensuring that purchasing of these products supports their local economy

Where possible we favour Fair Trade suppliers which support our belief in fairness and sustainable trading conditions. This supports marginalised producers and workers in order to help them move from a position of vulnerability to security and economic self-sufficiency.

Value: Due to the nature of what we do we remain fairly close to the source of the food being produced. Cutting out these supply chain paths enables us to offer high quality products at affordable prices to our customers.

Community Support: Our business is closely tied to many communities. We see community support as local, regional, national and international and continue to make decisions that will positively contribute to the community at each level. We believe in giving back to the community and encouraging communal enjoyment of good food and shopping which is one reason we enjoy the markets so much and support healthy fundraising options  for not for profit organisations. We also continue to support our own local schools, cooking schools and other organisations wherever possible.

Our staff: We have found it essential that our staff have a passion for healthy food and are generally healthy and well rounded. We have created a workplace valued by all staff where business is carried out with honesty, integrity and respect. Environmental Sustainability:We understand our fundamental responsibility to protect our environment for the future generations. Therefore we support biodynamic and organic farming through our commitment to sustainable agriculture and by expanding the market for organic products. We respect our environment and recycle, reuse, and reduce our waste wherever and whenever we can. We support and encourage reducing packaging and waste; we do this by encouraging the purchase of bulk food and other products that have reduced or reusable packaging.  

This is also reflected in the cost of the products in our online store; the more it is packaged the more it usually costs. This is a true reflection of the costs both financial and environmental that are involved in packaging a product. We also encourage the use of environmentally friendly cleaning products in our office & warehouse and use natural products wherever possible.
