Produced by milling the whole wheat grain and adding the leavening agents Cream of Tartar, Bicarbonate of Soda, acceptable additives under strict organic standards. No bleaching and no refinement - contains the bran and germ as well as the endosperm and is,therefore, highly nutritious. There are no other additives. It is medium-brown in colour and gives a hearty flavour and robust texture to baked goods. Ideally it should be frigerated to retain freshness. Commonly used as an all purpose self-raising flour suitable for many everyday cooking needs and may need to increase liquid quantities or reduce flour quantities in some recipes. To increase lightness of baked goods, may need to mix it with plain white wholemeal flour or spelt flour.
