Learn how to cook polenta easily at home! Organic polenta is made from organic maize (yellow corn) flour and is naturally gluten free. Polenta can be cooked as a side dish and is also fried to make tasty chips!
Time: 45 minutes
- 1 cup Organic Polenta
- The basic ratio for cooking polenta is 4 parts liquid to 1 part polenta. You can use a variety of liquids to make polenta - from plain water, to milk or stock.
- Bring liquid to a boil in a saucepan on high. Add 1 tsp salt. Pour polenta slowly into the liquid, stirring. Continue stirring as the mixture thickens, 2 to 3 minutes.
- Turn heat to low. Cook for at least 45 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes or so. If polenta becomes thick, thin it out with water, stir well and continue cooking.
- Finish with butter or cream if you would like a creamy taste and flavour. Taste and check for final seasoning. Serve with cheese of your choice, or fresh herbs or as a side for stew.
