Organic carob is naturally caffeine-free and delightfully sweet, with a unique caramel-chocolate taste. It is calcium and antioxidant rich, low in fat as well as high in fibre, making it a fantastic cacao alternative!

Use Carob as an alternative flavour to chocolate in cakes, biscuits and desserts. Organic carob powder can be substituted in place of cocoa or cacao at a ratio of one to one, however you may choose to reduce the other sweeteners by roughly one quarter.

To replace cocoa powder for carob powder in a recipe, simply use the same amount of carob. You may choose to reduce the other sweeteners by roughly one quarter due to carob's naturally mild sweet flavour.

To substitute chocolate with carob, use approximately 3 tablespoons of carob powder in place of each square of chocolate

The carob tree ‘Ceratonia Siliqua’ produces carob beans which are 90% pulp, also referred to as kibble, and 10% seed. The kibble is what is used for carob powder and is made up of sugars, tannins and non-starch polysaccharides. The kibble is roasted and ground to make the carob powder.
