method

  1. Thoroughly rinse the legumes in cold water.
  2. Add legumes to a pot and cover with hot water and leave to soak for the required time. Drain and rinse again.
  3. Place the now-soaked legumes in a clean pot and cover with plenty of fresh water.
  4. Bring to boil then reduce the heat, cover and simmer for the suggested cooking time, or until the beans or lentils are tender and soft, but not mushy.
  5. Drain and rinse the cooked legumes until the water runs clear.
