Organic Refined Shea Butter is certified Fair Trade, sourced from cooperatives of women in northern Ghana. Ghanaian Shea butter is said to be the best in the world due to the natural properties of the Shea nuts in this region, and the traditional processing methods which create a clean, luxurious, high quality butter. The product is also vegan and cruelty free.

HOW TO USE

Organic Refined Shea Butter can be used on its own as a rich skin moisturiser and lip balm, and can also be used in DIY beauty products such as deodorant paste or whipped body butter. Refined Shea has a slightly lighter colour and more subtle scent than unrefined Shea butter.

GROWING & PROCESSING

The Shea fruit is harvested, boiled and sun-dried on traditional drying mats. It is then de-husked and ground into a smooth powder. This is then slowly boiled, stirred and hand-kneaded, which causes the butter then forms at the surface. The butter is carefully hand-collected, and the process is repeated to ensure there are no impurities. It is then double-filtered and cooled to thickening point. Refined Shea uses an additional process with clay to create a whiter, low-fragrance butter. All parts of the Shea fruit are used by the local community, with no wastage.
