Making a Difference Through Coffee

Our Honest to Goodness Neighbours Blend Premium Organic Coffee goes beyond being a delicious brew; it serves as a catalyst for positive change. 

Underpinned by our heartfelt mission of "Tastes good, does good", we are proud to reveal that, as of October 2023, we have already raised and donated just over $16,750 AUD for Project Timor. 

This initiative is aimed at providing young women in the community of Maliana, Timor Leste, with access to quality education and essential nourishment.

Why Project Timor

The genesis of our commitment to Project Timor began in 2019 when Lily, the eldest daughter of Honest to Goodness' founders, embarked on a transformative school immersion trip to Timor Leste at the age of 16.

Witnessing the daily challenges faced by the community left an indelible mark on her, inspiring her to give back. Lily's personal connection to the school and community fuelled her desire to create Neighbours Blend, a coffee that would not only delight the taste buds but also support a meaningful cause.

Contributing to Education in Timor Leste

Access to education is a significant challenge in Timor Leste, where just 18% of Timorese girls graduate high school. Honest to Goodness is proud to be associated with efforts to educate the young women of Timor and has committed to donating 100% of the profits from Neighbours Blend Coffee to Project Timor.

Coffee plays a pivotal role in this endeavour, as Timor Leste is renowned for its coffee industry. By growing and selling coffee locally, the community benefits from trade and consumption offshore, with profits reinvested to support the education of its children.

With the funds raised thus far through the Neighbours Blend Coffee we were already able to cover the cost of two scholarships for 12 months at Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa'e (UNTL). Alicia (Nutrition & Dietetics) and Esperanca (Biomedical Science) are both in their fourth-year studies and we have been able to give them an allowance that covers rent, tuition fees, textbooks, stationery, daily travel and other living expenses. 

But this is just the beginning! Only 2.1% of girls from a rural area such as Maliana in Timor Leste have the opportunity to receive a tertiary education and we are committed to keep supporting more girls achieving a higher education.
