The hazel fruit is a nut produced in clusters with each nut held in a short leafy capsule enclosing about three-quarters of the nut. Each nut is yellow-brown in colour, similar to an oval in shape and about 1.5-2 cm long and 1.2 -2 cm wide. They fall out of the leafy capsule when ripe, about 7-8 months after pollination. Once harvested, they are steamed to eliminate any bacteria and packaged. No insecticides or pesticides are used during the growing process and no preservatives or additives are packaged with the nuts.
