Try this easy no-cook play dough recipe for simple, non-toxic fun. With all-natural ingredients, it is safe for little hands who can't resist a taste. The higher salt content should help discourage them from going back for seconds.
1 cup salt
2 cups plain flour
2 tbsp cream of tartar
2 tbsp olive oil
A few drops of natural food colouring
1 cup boiling water
Optional: For older children who won't be tempted to taste, add a few drops of your favourite essential oil for a multi-sensory experience!
Method
Measure the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil into a large bowl and mix well.
Add the food colouring to the boiling water. Note: some natural colours can be quite faint, you can always add more during the kneading process.
Slowly add the water to the dry mixture, stirring all the time.
Once cool, knead the dough onto a floured surface until no longer sticky
Store in an airtight container. To extend its life in the warmer months, pop it in the fridge.
